States of Attachment considers attachment as both a psychological condition and a material one. Suspended balloons stretch, sag, and press against one another, creating temporary structures whose stability depends entirely on relationships rather than individual forms. The installation explores attachment not as a fixed bond but as a constantly shifting state maintained through tension, proximity, and vulnerability.

The balloons simultaneously evoke breath, skin, organs, and cellular forms. Their inflated surfaces suggest both fragility and resilience, capable of expanding or collapsing with only minor changes in pressure. By relying on commonplace materials associated with celebration and impermanence, the work complicates expectations of permanence, asking how relationships are maintained despite their inherent instability.

Rather than depicting attachment directly, the installation allows viewers to move among forms whose collective presence continually redefines the surrounding space. Bodies are implied rather than represented, and connection becomes something sensed through accumulation, compression, and suspension. The work proposes attachment as an active condition requiring continual negotiation rather than a stable emotional fact.
